The Greater Manchester Spatial Framework has been a flawed exercise that councils, particularly Bolton, has allowed to become developer-led. It needs to be scrapped and replaced with a commitment to building on the huge number of brownfield sites within our towns.
If elected, I would lobby hard to legislate against land-banking by developers, and for more money to be made available to clear sites for redevelopment.
Affordable housing is needed but not at the expense of our countryside and our quality of air; and not without the infrastructure to support it.
