On Monday we were joined by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, at Gigg Lane to see the results of the Government's £1m of funding from the community ownership fund and the tireless work and commitment of the fans.
To this day the council have failed to provide any funding in support of this transformative project that will not only bring football back to Gigg Lane but also provide a key facility in our town that will benefit everyone in the community.
The fan led review into football governance will ensure fans are at the centre of football through measures including: establishing a new regulator, which will have the power to investigate and sanction clubs in English football who break financial and other rules; and a new owners test will be introduced to give fans more say in the running of clubs.
Our town knows how football clubs are at the heart of local communities and it is great to see Gigg Lane at the heart of ours once again.
