MP for Bury North, James Daly, has launched a new campaign centred around Metrolink services in Bury.
First opening back in 1992, the Metrolink has become an integral part of the transport network in Bury and Greater Manchester. With 26 million passenger journeys made last year this is a key way of getting around for people across the region. However, this is down from a peak of 44 million before the pandemic.
After being contacted by a number of residents about issues with the Metrolink service, James Daly has now launched a campaign to hear people’s views on the service and how it can be improved to meet the needs of commuters and leisure travellers in Bury.
Mr Daly said:
“With the last tram from Manchester to Bury now departing at 11:46pm, even on the weekend, a number of people have mentioned to me that this should be later if we are to encourage the nighttime economy in Bury and make life easier when people do head to the city centre.”
“This spurred me to seek people’s views on not only the operating hours but the wider service as it is a large part of Bury’s local economy and the daily lives of many of my constituents. The Metrolink has had a positive impact on our town in its three decades of operation, but we must ensure the service is further improved for the people of Bury”
If you would like to help me improve the Metrolink for yourself and other passengers, please take a couple of minutes to complete this survey.
