It was absolutely fantastic to welcome the Secretary of State Michael Gove to Gigg Lane today following the recent news that the Government will be providing one million pounds of matched funding as part of efforts to return football to Gigg Lane.
This money has been provided as part of the Community Ownership Fund which enables communities to purchase buildings that have a special significance to the local community. Under the proposals Gigg Lane will not only be returned to operation as a football stadium but also have improved facilities for the community such as a gym, space for skills/training and other key assets that will be of benefit to the wider community.
