Tackling Obesity
Today I spoke in the House of Commons about obesity and how sport has a key part to play in ensuring an active lifestyle for younger people.
Obesity is the second biggest preventable cause of cancer and tackling this is one of the most important things that the Government can do to improve the country's health.
Here in Bury, Ramsbottom and Tottington we have many fantastic organisations that allow for young people to get involved in sports. But we must invest more in what is such an important part of public health.
As I say in my question, sporting venues such as Gigg Lane must be a key part of these efforts to get young people involved in sport and I welcome the opportunity that the Government's Community Ownership Fund presents for us here in Bury.
