James Daly welcomes £700,622 for Bury to help rough sleepers and those at risk of becoming homeless in his constituency.
This money is part of nearly £220 million from the government's funding package, that has been given to councils across the country to help deliver over 800 homes for rough sleepers and help prevent families from becoming homeless. This brings the total government investment to £2.4 billion over three years (2022-2025) to tackle homelessness and end rough sleeping for good.
Commenting, James Daly MP said:
I am delighted that Bury is receiving £700,622 in order to help rough sleepers off the streets and to prevent homelessness.
We must seek to continue with our 'prevention first' approach which focuses on preventing people from sleeping rough in the first place in Bury North.
Only this Conservative Government has a plan to help families across he country, including the most vulnerable people getting the support they need.
£107 million has been allocated to help provide more than 800 homes for rough sleepers. This money is immediately available for councils to purchase or rent properties to give rough sleepers a safe space to stay whilst they rebuild their lives off the streets.
A further £109 million boost to the Homelessness Prevention Grant is available for councils to help prevent evictions before they occur or fund temporary accommodation. This brings the funds funds total to £1.2 billion, with more than 160,000 people supported since the scheme opened in 2022.
Another £6 million has been provided to help boost the number of off-street spaces for rough sleepers in the winter, to provide those in need with warm and safe spaces to sleep and access services.
This funding boost builds on the government's strategy to tackle homelessness and end rough sleeping for good.

This announcement brings the total funding to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping to an unprecedented £2.4 billion, meaning we can help thousands of the most vulnerable people and give them the support they need to rebuild their lives.
