Back in February, I was invited to visit Margaret Haes Riding School in Holcombe. While there I spoke with them at length about the incredible work they do, particularly their work with those who have disabilities.
While there I was concerned to find out that they were at risk of losing their home at the heart of Holcombe village as the land was being put up for sale.
Upon hearing of this I pointed them towards the Government's Community Ownership Fund as a potential way of saving the stables and I am pleased to say that their bid has been accepted!
They are now to receive a £175,000 grant from the Government which, when combined with a generous benefactor and a GoFundMe campaign means the riding school can buy the land and remain at their current location and continue to be an incredible part of our local community.
Seeing the fantastic work this organisation does be able to continue has really been a highlight of the year for me, and I wish them every success going forward.
